homemade butter

Before I talk about the deliciousness of homemade butter, I'd like to let you know that making this was one hell of a workout. I had sore arms for more than two days but I guess it was worth the pain. I found this recipe on honey & jam's amazing blog (I also found this delicious recipe on her blog). The dishes Hannah makes are always so comforting and homey, and the photographs are stunning!

This was incredibly easy. All you need is a jar and about a cup or so of heavy cream. Shake and shake and shake. Then shake a little more, shake again and voila! You've got yourself homemade butter. When I say shake, I mean you shake that jar without stopping for 15 minutes straight. I'm glad I had an extra pair of hands in the kitchen. We took turns in shaking and it was kinda fun!

You might think it's impossible to turn cream into butter in the first 5 to 7 minutes but don't lose hope, keep shaking and you'll definitely get there. I just wish I had baked homemade bread to go with this. That would have been crazy good.

This makes a very rich buttery (duh) butter. It's different from the usual butter that I'd normally eat with my toast, it tastes similar to white butter, which my family loves and buys all the time so I'm familiar with the taste and absolutely love it. Serve this with hot toast or even better, homemade bread :)

Happy shaking!
